Privacy Policy

FuelGauge is built from the ground up with a privacy-by-design architecture. We believe your driving habits, fuel expenses, vehicle details, and maintenance history belong strictly to you and should never leave your physical device.

🛡️ 1. Core Commitment: 100% Offline & Private

FuelGauge operates entirely offline. There are no remote servers, cloud databases, user registration systems, or backend analytical pipelines. The application does not transmit any information over the internet.

Your vehicle data is stored exclusively inside the sandboxed local storage of your mobile device, protected by your operating system's native security sandbox.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Because FuelGauge does not connect to external servers, we never collect, harvest, monetize, or process:

  • Zero GPS or Geolocation Data: We do not request, access, or track your real-time location, GPS coordinates, routes, or trip destinations. Mileage is input manually.
  • Zero Personal Identifiable Information (PII): No names, email addresses, phone numbers, driver's license numbers, or billing info.
  • Zero Vehicle Identification Tracking: Any Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN), license plate tags, or make/model details you enter remain purely local.
  • Zero Telemetry or Behavioral Tracking: We do not track how frequently you open the app, which buttons you tap, or how you interact with features.
  • Zero Advertising Identifiers: We do not read Google Advertising ID (GAID), IDFA, or device fingerprinting tokens.

3. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

All data created within FuelGauge is stored strictly on your phone's local storage. This includes:

  • Vehicle Profiles: Vehicle nickname, make, model, year, fuel type, tank capacity, and baseline odometer readings.
  • Fuel Logs: Date of fill-up, fuel price per unit, gallons/liters purchased, total cost, trip meter distance, and partial/full tank flags.
  • Service & Maintenance Logs: Oil changes, tire rotations, brake pad inspections, filter replacements, parts costs, and service date/mileage thresholds.
  • User Preferences: Measurement units (Miles/Gallons, Kilometers/Liters, MPG vs L/100km, currency symbol) and UI theme settings.

4. Device Permissions Explained

FuelGauge requests only minimal permissions strictly necessary for local utility:

  • Storage / Document Access (Optional): If you choose to export your fuel logs as CSV or JSON backup files, or import an existing log file, FuelGauge requests temporary storage access to save the file to your selected folder.
  • Local Notifications (Optional): Used exclusively to trigger scheduled service reminders on your device when specified mileage or date intervals approach. No notification payloads are sent over the network.

5. Data Ownership, Backups & Deletion

You maintain 100% complete ownership and control over your vehicle logs:

  • Instant Data Deletion: You can delete any vehicle profile, single fill-up entry, or reset the entire database at any time from within the app settings.
  • App Uninstallation: Uninstalling FuelGauge or clearing app data via your device operating system settings permanently removes all stored data from your hardware.
  • Manual Data Export: You can export your data in human-readable CSV format for personal archiving or spreadsheet analysis.

6. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Legal Compliance

Because FuelGauge does not collect, process, transfer, or store personal data on remote servers:

  • Right to Access & Portability: All your data is instantly accessible and exportable on your device.
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Deleting entries or uninstalling the app permanently purges all data without leaving any remote traces.
  • No Data Sale or Sharing: We do not sell, rent, disclose, or monetize your personal or vehicular information to advertisers, insurance brokers, data brokers, or third parties under any circumstances.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

FuelGauge is safe for all age groups and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the European Union).

8. Third-Party Services & Links

FuelGauge contains no third-party tracking SDKs, analytics frameworks (such as Google Analytics or Firebase), or ad networks. If our website links to third-party platforms (such as the Google Play Store or GitHub), their respective privacy policies apply once you navigate to those services.

9. Policy Updates

Any future updates to this Privacy Policy will be published on this page with an updated "Last Updated" timestamp. Since we do not possess your email or personal data, we recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
